Luas Novas: Inês Nunes

Inês Nunes has been developing a cinematic language that brings reality together with a dreamlike atmosphere. She writes, directs and edits her own fiction films while also working as a video editor for other filmmakers. After studying Cinema at Lisbon’s Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, she recently completed a master’s degree in directing at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola in San Sebastián as a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian scholar. Her first short film, História da Noite, made during her degree, premiered at IndieLisboa in 2019; the following year she presented Sonho de um Verão at Curtas Vila do Conde. Her latest film, A Solidão dos Lagartos, was shot in the Algarve, the region where she was born, and premiered in the Official Short Film Competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. It won the Nest Award for Best Short Film at the San Sebastián Festival and Best National Short Film at IndieLisboa. She is currently developing her first feature film. This session screens her three short films and is followed by a conversation with Inês Nunes.
