After Life

In a modest reception centre that serves as a limbo, a team of counsellors welcomes groups of people who have just died and asks each of them to choose their happiest memory. That memory will then be recreated cinematographically and accompany the person for eternity, while all the others fade away. Over the course of a week, people of different ages revisit loves, losses, regrets and small joys. After Life is a sensitive meditation on what gives human existence meaning—and on cinema’s ability to preserve and give shape to those experiences.
