Le Corsaire is a vibrant, action-filled ballet following a group of pirates in their quest for adventure and treasure on the high seas. With music by Adolphe Adam and choreography by Marius Petipa, this classic combines energy, emotion and spectacle in a visually dazzling production. Battles aboard ships and the emblematic Dance of the Slaves unfold alongside the passionate love between the corsair Conrad and the beautiful Medora. Adam’s dramatic, expressive score offers unforgettable melodies that evoke the adventure and romanticism running through the story, while the choreography combines elegance and virtuosity and reflects the protagonists’ strength and agility. The intense fight scenes use fast, precise movements to recreate the energy of a true battle at sea. Ballet Kyiv was founded in 2017 from the dream of Viktor Ishchuk, the famous solo dancer of the Kyiv Opera Theatre, who wanted to create a young company bringing together Ukraine’s most prominent stars to show the world the talent, mastery and professionalism of the country’s artists. Its first performances conquered major theatres worldwide; since then, the company has given more than 700 performances in several countries, including Portugal, always to sold-out audiences.
