O Amor É Assim: Ray Cooney’s Comedy

João Baião stars in the Portuguese adaptation of Ray Cooney’s Run for Your Wife, directed by Baião and Fernando Gomes. The cast also includes Cristina Oliveira, Mané Ribeiro, Luís Garcia, João Frizza, João Lopes and Susana Cacela.

Joaquim Baião maintains two homes, two routines and two wives, Bárbara and Prazeres, with apparently perfect organization. A small mishap unravels his plan, setting off a succession of lies, unexpected calls, curious neighbours, persistent police officers and a friend unable to keep his story straight.

The original comedy ran for nine consecutive years in London’s West End before reaching Broadway and other international stages. Translated into dozens of languages and performed in more than 50 countries, it brings a fast-moving chain of misunderstandings to this two-hour production, rated for ages 12 and over.
