Todos mienten

Matías Piñeiro’s second feature follows eight young people in a country house apparently isolated from civilisation. There they invent stories, drink, sing, draw, rehearse plays, plan a robbery and become involved in riddles. As in his debut, El Hombre Robado, Piñeiro turns to texts by Domingo Faustino Sarmiento — writer and seventh president of Argentina — to reflect on his country’s history and reveal the power dynamics, intrigues and suspicions that take hold within the group. The screening is presented by Matías Piñeiro and Garbiñe Ortega.
