Pink Narcissus

One of the most celebrated examples of gay eroticism in underground cinema, Pink Narcissus follows a young sex worker who, while waiting for his next client, takes refuge in a fantasy world to escape the harshness of everyday life. Filmed over seven years in James Bidgood’s New York apartment, the film was completed without the director’s involvement and premiered anonymously in 1971. Decades later, Bidgood’s authorship was finally recognised, establishing the film as an essential reference in queer aesthetics.
