The traveller without luggage: film screening

Jean Anouilh’s first film as a director, Le voyageur sans bagage adapts his play of the same name. Gaston is found amnesiac at the end of the First World War and spends ten years in an institution. When several families claim him as a missing relative, he is confronted with a past he does not recognise as his own. Among them is the Renaud family, whose view of the young Gaston reveals a former personality that was violent and unscrupulous. As fragments of memory return, he realises that it may be better to abandon his old identity and reinvent himself.
