A Photographer's Story
Original title: HISTÓRIA DE UM FOTÓGRAFO

Description
The seventh session of the cinema-and-conversation cycle Modes of Re-view: Cinema Under the Influence (of Painting) is dedicated to Pop Art and screens Michelangelo Antonioni's História de um Fotógrafo (1966). Film critic and filmmaker Francisco Noronha and actor João Reis take part, with Isabel Lopes Gomes as moderator.
The film follows a successful photographer in London whose world revolves around fashion, pop music, drugs and easy sex. During a single day, he unknowingly captures a death on film, setting off an increasingly bizarre chain of events.
Antonioni's dizzying film crystallised the atmosphere and imagery of 1960s Swinging London through a Pop Art palette. The programme lists Blow-Up / História de um Fotógrafo as a 1966, 111-minute production from the UK, Italy and the USA.
